As part of CityRead London I am running comics workshops for 8 – 12 year olds across London.

This event is taking place as part of the CityRead London Family Day at Museum of London, Docklands! There’s a whole bunch of other stuff happening too.

Join comics creator Karen Rubins to make your own comic strips set during the First World War. Put yourself in the shoes of a Londoner, and decide how you would react to the propaganda posters of the time.

Details of all the CityRead events happening in London can be found on the CityRead website.

These workshops are free but booking is required. Please check with the individual library for details.

Comics Unstripped! Exhibition @ Alfred East Art Gallery

Kettering Museum and Art Gallery is hosting a fantastic exhibition about comics, including art from classic comics greats, as well as newcomers – and highlighting British comics and graphic novels as well as women artists. I have work on display, as do Glenn Fabry, Alison Sampson, Rachael Smith and a whole host of others.

From their website:

Visit the Alfred East Art Gallery this summer for our ‘Comics Unstripped!’ exhibition, where we look at the history of comics and graphic novels. The exhibition features the original artworks by Kettering’s Frank Bellamy, including some examples from Garth, Thunderbirds and Dan Dare. The exhibition, which runs from 9th July to 20th August, looks at DC and Marvel as well as some of the newcomers in the business.

They are also holding some workshops and a family fun day with a superhero theme, so please see their website for details.
