I am an award-winning professional comics artist and former librarian, living and working in London, UK. I am currently drawing spooky kids’ series The Shivers for The Phoenix comic, collaborating with writer Daniel Hartwell.
I have been making comics since the year 2000, when my sister Anna and I self-published the first chapter of our graphic novel DARK. I am still self-publishing and contributing to indie books and will probably never stop! My work spans all kinds of settings and genres, from adventure to comedy to horror. You can read some of them on the comics page.
I am influenced by comics and graphic novels from all over the world, particularly indie titles from the US and UK, and Japanese manga. My inspiration comes from many sources: comics, films, books, dreams and even real life. I love myths and legends, history, politics, and wondering what makes people tick…
In 2009 I was chosen to become the official Comics Artist in Residence at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. For six months I worked in a studio at the V&A, using the collections as inspiration and research, and running workshops for different groups of museum visitors, including young people, school groups, adult refugees, and a general adult audience.
I have been running workshops, courses, classes and talks on various aspects of comics, manga and graphic novels since 2007, and have worked with many libraries, schools, museums and book events across the UK and internationally. You can find out more, including how to hire me, on the workshops page. I can also help if you are thinking of setting up a graphic novel collection in your library.
I am always looking for new projects, and I welcome interest from any writers, publishers or comics aficionados who would like to collaborate. I am also available for commercial or personal illustration work, and you can visit the illustration page for examples of my work. Please use the contact form to get in touch.
